Headaches:
If you suffer from headaches, you are not alone. Many Americans suffer from
headaches that can be occasional, frequent, dull and throbbing, and some
may even cause pain and nausea. Many people try to suffer through it by
lying down, and making pain meds hoping that it will go away.
Headache Triggers: Many headaches can be triggered by the food we eat,
noise, lights, stress.
There is a much better alternative; research has shown that spinal
manipulation may help with tension headaches and headaches that originate
in the neck.
What Can You Do?
The American Chiropractic Association suggests the following:
- If you spend a large amount of time in one fixed position, such as
sitting in front of a computer or reading, it is good to take breaks and
try to stretch every 30 mins.
- Doing low impact exercises may help with pain relief. Engage in low
impact exercise such as walking or low impact- aerobics.
- Also drinking at least eight 8 ounces of water a day can help
avoid dehydration which can trigger headaches.
What Can a Doctor of Chiropractic Do?
- Having a spinal manipulation/chiropractic adjustment to help improve
spinal function to help alleviate stress on your system.
- Acupuncture to help control pain.
- They can also help provide nutritional advice, recommending changes in
diet along with supplement or vitamin recommendations.
- Offer advice on posture, exercises, or relaxation techniques.
