Tech Neck

What Is Tech Neck?

Poor posture has been around for many years. It is now affecting all generations especially the younger generation at an alarming rate. With extended screen time it is accelerating this problem. People of all ages are hunched over their electronics for long periods of time throughout the day. This constant looking down helps to contribute to Tech Neck. It is not only technology that contributes to this problem but also bad posture while reading, driving, working, hobbies, and other activities can contribute to this problem as well.

Health Contributors of Forward Head Posture

Having Tech Neck increases compression on the tissues in the neck, discs, muscles and ligaments as well. Many common symptoms can include- neck pain and headaches. For example when we look down at our phones or electronic devices at a 60 degree angle it is equal to having 60 lbs of pressure on our necks. This over time can affect our necks over time and may contribute to falling or having other injuries.

Chiropractic Care for Neck Pain

Chiropractic Care can help with pain in regards to issues that may have contributed to electronic use. Chiropractic adjustments can help realign the neck and back. It can also help improve the body to become more flexible to help with optimal posture form. Chiropractors might also suggest custom devices to help with pain such as flexible orthotics, back support braces, etc.

This combined with exercise can help patients work toward achieving better posture, reduce pain and help enhance their quality of life!
